History of the charming Hotel Masia La Mota

The hotel Masía La Mota in Alicante is the result of two converging stories that start from origins as distant as they are disparate, which in time would crystallise into a charming hotel in the province of Alicante that is a benchmark in environmental sustainability and the exercise of good taste. La Mota is the name of a farmhouse located in the Font Roja de Alcoy natural park, which was a farming unit like so many others in the inland mountains of Alicante. Olive oil, wine, fruit, cereals… With the changing times of the sixth decade of the 20th century, large farmhouses such as La Mota ceased to be profitable and gradually ceased their productive activity. Their doors closed and the years took their toll on their roofs and walls. That sober, sturdy and proud construction, set in the green oak grove of the Mediterranean forest of La Font Roja, gave way to abandonment from the middle of the 20th century, fading like a light that was almost completely extinguished… Near the end of the millennium, precisely in November 1999, a new life project opened up for a couple who wanted to start a new chapter together, full of illusion. The decision had to be the right one. They studied various options until, finally, in the mountains of Alicante, they found, surrounded by a privileged natural environment, precisely that farmhouse that still conserved the vestige of the splendour of another time. Fleetingly, in the imagination of both of them, what could be achieved with the restoration of the old house began to take shape. Within its thick walls, life and activity were restored, after a slow process that resulted in the hotel and its warm home, which is still appreciated by its guests today. The result has been recognised with various awards and distinctions and a long and warm relationship of satisfied and grateful clients.
