A fanciful natural setting between two Natural Parks (Font Roja and Mariola), a modernist architectural heritage and the tradition and personality of local people make Alcoy the city where the magic of Christmas take place.

But without a doubt, days when the magic and dreams invade visitors are the 4th, 5th and 6th of January. This trilogy begins with the Parade Eve, known locally as `La Burreta´ day (4 th of January). Around seven p.m. makes its entrance the Royal Ambassador who announce the imminent arrival of their Majesties. The loyal entourage walk by Alcoy´ streets giving dream with the cortège of donkeys carrying saddlebags where children put their letters with theirs wishes to the Three Wise Men. The excitement of children is being intensified among this day previous to the Parade. Also at the end of this ceremony the visitors can see the arrival of the Threee Wise Men´s entourage by the mountains of Alcoy.

All this is the prelude to the most magical day when the Three Wise Men arrive to Alcoy (5th of January). This ceremony is formed by an entourage of sherpherd and shepherdess, torches, local dances and music bands. In addition to the characteristic royal pages (`Els Negres´) who give gifts to children in a particular way: carrying boxes up long stairs through the balconies of the Alcoy´s houses.

All of this to announce the arrival of Melchor Gaspar and Baltasar to the city. Who walk by Alcoy´s streets spreading dreams and magic among children and visitors.

The most emblematic act is when Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar arrive to main square `Plaza de España´. Then the lights of the city center turn out to begin the act of Jesus Worship. A musical fireworks display in which their Majesties down from their camels and cross the square to present  their gifts to newborn Jesus (“Jesuset”).
