The Font Roja Natural Park is one of the inland destinations in the province of Alicante that can surprise any visitor with its scenic beauty and environmental wealth.
La Font Roja is located in Alcoy and Ibi, only 50 kilometres from Alicante and the Costa Blanca, which allows quick access to cycling, hiking, horse riding, photography and nature, flora and fauna observation.
For those who haven’t discovered it yet, the Font Roja Natural Park is a formidable rural mountain tourism destination to visit. Two hills with a height of more than 1350 metres crown its height from where you can reach extraordinary views of a large part of the Alicante mountains, especially the Sierra de Mariola.
This is the location of the Masia La Mota Restaurant, located in the old almasara of the La Mota estate, located in Partida Salterres 21 in the municipality of Alcoy.
Its owners Indira Amaya and Edgar Ameglio wanted to maintain all the original structures of the estate and adapt this area for the restaurant, given that it was not possible to keep in place the elements that made up the oil mill, such as the oven, the decanters and the stone for grinding the olives, they have opted for an open-plan space with two large windows overlooking the olive groves and the Font Roja Natural Park.
The food offered in the restaurant is Mediterranean with a touch of signature cuisine. Some local dishes such as pericana, escalibada and rice dishes typical of the Alicante mountains can be tasted while contemplating beautiful views without renouncing more sophisticated and creative dishes. In addition, the desserts are homemade, some of them are made by Indira, the owner.
Recently, an area of the estate has been adapted for parking for visitors to the restaurant. This gives a new dimension to the Carrascal de la Font Roja Natural Park, as it is nice to be able to visit a natural space and then be able to eat or stay at Masia La Mota, or both.
The access to the restaurant is signposted as such, as the charming Hotel Masia La Mota is also located on the same property.
It is open to the general public on Fridays and Saturdays for lunch and dinner and on Sundays for lunch only. On all other days it is only open by prior reservation for a minimum of 10 people.
